Craniosacral Therapy with Alfredo Hunter R.C.S.T, B.C.S.T.
What is craniosacral therapy?
Biodynamic craniosacral therapy is a gentle yet profound healing therapy in which the therapist listens with his hands to the subtle rhythms and systems of your body which included muscles, bones, nerves, fluids and energy fields while perceiving the body as a whole, focusing to assist the body’s natural tendency to repair itself working on the principle that health is always present.
Craniosacral therapy developed from the work of an American osteopath, Dr William Sutherland in the early 1900s. He noticed intrinsic movements of the bones in the head and his further research revealed different rhythms in the body. He considered these movements to be a direct expression of health. Since then Craniosacral Therapy has grown from clinical experience which shows that health is something active and not just an absence of disease. It is the expression of life, responsible for the organisation of the immensely complex internal body. Craniosacral Therapy supports these internal ordering principles and helps to increase physical vitality and wellbeing helping with many aspects of life from strengthening the immune system to improving interpersonal relationships.
What happens in a session?
The therapist will ask you to lie fully clothed on the treatment table before making contact most commonly at the head, feet or sacrum. The first thing you will probably notice is a sense of settling and deep relaxation and stillness which will generally last throughout the session, feeling the stress and strains of your busy day fading away. With subsequent treatments this release of tension often extends into everyday life. You may feel different sensations in your body or experience a deep meditative state. You may begin to feel more spacious in different areas of your body and start feeling tight muscles softening. It is not uncommon for emotions to arise, however, the therapist will work with you to make sure you feel comfortable and safe with anything you experience. Sometimes the benefits are not immediately noticeable but become obvious on returning to a familiar environment. The work can involve resolution of past events and is often profoundly relaxing, deeply moving and exhilarating.
Craniosacral Therapy can be beneficial for a wide range of health issues including: headaches, back and joint pain, digestive problems, stress, fatigue and sleep issues. It helps connecting your body to a deep sense of relaxation helping to release the effects of past trauma.
Craniosacral therapy is so gentle that it is suitable for babies, children and the elderly, as well as adults and people in fragile or acutely painful conditions
